FALL! FALL! FALL!
That's what everyone is saying. Apparently fall is here in the northern hemisphere, at least according to the earth's position, and also Starbucks.
But it's still kinda hot here. Enter this dress. This dress lets me feel all autumnal on the inside, but keeps me abiding by summer on the outside.
The pattern is the Papercut Patterns Clover dress, which is my new favorite one-evening-make. It comes together so fast, and with the small pieces and the 'V' shape on the front there are a lot of possibilities with color blocking and fun fabric choice.
AND the dress version doesn't have a waist seam so it's the same amount of work as the shirt length.
The fabric is a light and drapey number that I actually got for free when someone made a giant fabric donation at Sew LA. It's some kind of polyester that's has a little woven plaid on it. I snagged it, forgot about it, then found it when I was trying to figure out what to make this out of. Score!
I'm definitely planning to do more of the shirt length and play around with some sheer / fancy fabrics. I would have already except that I have nary a shred of sheer or fancy in my stash. How sad, right?
This belt buckle, by the way, is from ebay. If you'd like to lose an hour of your time and possibly some money, go search for "vintage brass belt buckle" on ebay, I dare ya.
So now it's off to the pumpkin patch, or the cider mill, or the corn maze, or something. Happy fall!
Can we go to that pumpkin patch together? What I like most about this dress is the color! Love the green!
ReplyDeletemeet you there! :]
DeleteThis is great! Definitely my favourite version of the clover dress so far. :)
ReplyDeletethanks! :]
Deleteyou just keep pumpin' out the gorgeous clothes one after another! also that belt is sooo good!
ReplyDeletehaha i do what i can! and yes, anything i wear with the horse buckle is automatically upgraded. :]
DeleteThat looks lovely! I didn't know this pattern existed, and now I totally want it. Huge props for the fabric choice: it is super cute.
ReplyDeletethanks! i totally want to make a bunch more versions!
DeleteAn eye-catcher and loving those neckline details and black v details. Lots of variation potential!!
ReplyDeletedefinitely!!
DeleteThis dress is making me question why I don't wear dresses lol. I love the little V detail at the top and it looks so comfortable to wear! Seriously awesome belt buckle, too. I will skip the temptation and not search for one like it on eBay ...or maybe I'll just look real quick.
ReplyDeleteyou should wear dresses!! this one is really comfortable...plus dresses take way less effort to put on, which is major points in my book. :]
Deleteyes!!! the day this was released I bought it, printed it, taped it together, and cut out my size. the next day I sewed a muslin with my serger in about 15 minutes. no joke. I'm plotting my first "real" version now and can see many possibilities with this super fast make! love your version! xoxo
ReplyDeletei know it's so fast!! can't wait to see yours :] xo
DeleteSuch a pretty fall dress. I need to make this since I love anything that can be worn with a belt. First I have to work through a series of other cut projects but this totally put this pattern higher on my must make list.
ReplyDeleteyeah i definitely have other things in my sewing queue that got bumped out of the way for this...haha whoops!
DeleteGorgeous! I LOVE your version! The belt buckle is ridiculously cute too :-)
ReplyDeletethank you!! :]
DeleteThe clover pattern did nothing for me until now! Your plaid version is lovely.
ReplyDeleteaw thanks!
DeleteLove the clover! I have a top version I'm hoping to post on my blog soon. It's so cute, and so quick to sew up (my favourite kinds of projects) though I'm not too crazy on my fabric choice... your plaid is just lovely though!
ReplyDeleteyeah i have a shirt version too that i'm not sure on fabric choice...the "v" is really contrasty and it kind of looks weird to me. but i'll probably get over it!
DeleteDevon I love this! Did you make any fit alterations?
ReplyDeletethanks! and nope, this is a straight XS, and my measurements are 33-27-38 if that helps inform your choice. it's pretty loose and swingy so i figured the fit wouldn't be too big of a deal. i was worried the skirt would be too short because on the model it looks super short, but she must be really tall because it's not too short on me. the only thing i'm considering changing is shortening the sleeves because i feel like the scale is a little long on me. :]
DeleteGirl, this is awesome on you! I have this pattern but nothing in my stash to make it from so I've been angsting over it for weeks now! It's mega cute on you!
