Violet Blouse and Tie Waistband Skirt

My latest finished projects!

The shirt is a Colette Patterns Violet blouse made with lightweight breezy Japanese fabric from Sew LA.

The skirt is a a very swingy Robert Kaufman cotton linen blend fabric. I sort of followed this tutorial, but I did the waistband differently and just cut straight pieces across the fabric instead of the way she cut angled panels. The front of the skirt is a full 42" or so wide rectangle across the fabric, and back is another one.

Originally I was going to have it tie in the back, but when I realized the ties were long enough to tie in the front I decided I liked that better, so I added a big buttonhole in one of the ties so I could thread them together and bring them around for the bow.

And the best part...there are pockets! Happy me!

  1. Devon that outfit is perfect. I'm so jealous! You should sell handmade clothes in your etsy shop.
